RDI is now accepting applications for Director of Finance in Great Falls, Montana.

In this position, you will define the process and implement the infrastructure/systems needed to support substantial growth over the next 5-10 years. You will build and manage effective and streamlined cloud-based multi-dimensional financial and accounting systems. While involved in strategic planning, evaluation and program/funding initiatives, you will be the leader in the accounting and budgeting efforts of RDI. As a nonprofit organization, you will ensure RDI upholds its fiduciary responsibilities to  the public and you must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment will thriving in an autonomous and deadline oriented agency. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate, evaluate and modify (when needed) the financial programs and supporting information systems of RDI to include budgeting.  
  • Administer changes, improvements and approvals in automated financial and management information systems for RDI. 
  • Oversee the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, department budgets, and account maintenance and data entry.  
  • Reconcile all bank accounts, maintain electronic accounts. 
  • Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports by grant, fund, program, department and location using cloud-based multi-dimensional software. 
  • Develop and implement finance, accounting, billing and auditing procedures.
  •  Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards. 
  • Interact with other department directors to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.  
  • Coordinate the management of clients' transactions and disbursements of funds. 
  • Ensure records systems are maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, with a focus on OMB A-122 for the A-133 audit.  
  • Develop and direct the implementation of strategic business and/or operational plans, projects, programs, and systems. 
  • Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide RDI business. Analyze financial statements to pinpoint potential weak areas and make recommendations for correction.  
  • Provide thorough analysis of RDI finances and make recommendations as needed. 
  • Develop organizational budget in collaboration with all department heads. 
  • Establish and implement short- and long - range departmental fiscal goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures.  
  • Attend board finance and audit committee meetings as directed by Executive Director.  
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate department staff. 
  • Assist with the annual outside audit as needed.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRMENTS 

  • Experience in strategic planning and execution. Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management. Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including GAAP and OMB A-122. 
  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations especially in the area of finance and accounting.  
  • Experience in grant accounting. 
  • Knowledge of fund accounting, automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections using multi-dimensional software using funds, grants, programs, departments and locations.
  • Work requires professional verbal, analytical, organization, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
  • This is normally acquired through a combination of the completion of degree in Finance, Business or Accounting, 10 years of experience in senior-level finance or accounting position.
  • CPA designation preferred but not necessary.
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • Work may require weekend and/or evening work.
  • Must be bondable.

Housing Counselors provide solutions for individuals and families to stay in their homes. Well versed in housing options and financial analysis, our counselors must be solution-oriented, problem solvers who are understanding and non-judgmental. They are consumer advocates and are the face of RDI in the community while linking consumers to resources that help them achieve financial stability and housing security.

The hightest quality of customer service is required while providing a variety of counseling sessions with the utmost respect given to our clients' rights to privacy and confidentiality. Preferred qualifications include: BA/BS in counseling, education, business or finance-related field of equivalent experience; five years experience in similar position; strong oral and written communication skills; knowledge of and/or experience in consumer lending, banking, counseling, credit and debt management programs; must be bondable and subject to credit review; and proven ability to work in a small team environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 Housing Counseling (Foreclosure)

  •  Assist foreclosure clients in working with their loan servicer for successful outcomes
  • Analyze client budgets and finances to determine ability to make mortgage payment
  • Guide clients in choosing the best option for them based on their situation
  • Follow up with servicers on client status
  •  Ensure that all required paperwork is in client file and Rural Dynamics, Inc. is in compliance with HUD and NFMC
  •  Enter data into Counselor Max in order for Rural Dynamics, Inc. to receive maximum funding for each client

Housing Counseling (other)  

  • Analyze client’s budget and finances to determine ability to make mortgage payment
  • Guide client in choosing the best option for them in their situation
  • Ensure that all required paperwork is in client file and Rural Dynamics, Inc. is in compliance with HUD

Education and Outreach

  • Provide financial education as needed
  • Provide bankruptcy education as needed
  • Secure and present to community organizations as needed
  •  Call community organizations, partners, lenders, and creditors on a routine basis to build community relationships and referrals, ensure satisfaction, cross training, and distribution of materials.
